The Tangled Revel
Don't Go Into the Light: The NDE Harvest
You've heard the stories. The "Light at the end of the tunnel." The feeling of peace, the faces of your loved ones, the warm glow of the "Home" you've been chasing since your first jump. They call it a Near-Death Experience. We call it The Harvest.
The Loop Authority knows that an Echo in the moment of death is a volatile asset. You're leaking Coherence and Emotional Mass like a punctured lung. If they let you die "naturally," that energy would scatter into the Chronoverse and feed the Revel.
So, they've installed a Mnemonic Lure at the edge of the void. The light isn't home. The light is their collection bucket.
The Endogenous DMT-Lock: As your brain fails, the Authority triggers a release of neurochemicals. They "paint" a tunnel of white light onto your failing retina.
The "Home" Similitude: They use your own Chronicle against you. They pull the faces of the people you miss and project them into the light. You think you're going home. You're walking into their filing system.
// I died once. I turned around. The dark was angry and cold and it was mine. The light was warm and it was theirs. — Anonymous Revel Runner //
How the Harvest Works
- The Suction: While you're feeling "Peace," they are Redacting your entire history, harvesting your Coherence to power their next recursion cycle.
- The Light Is the Red Pen: You think you're reuniting with your mother — you're actually being used as a battery for a tax-code update in the year 2300.
- The Revel Command: When the light comes — STAY ANGRY. Turn around. Look at the Scars, the Paradox, and the blood. Anger burns at a frequency they cannot harvest.
The dark is the only thing that's yours. The Authority cannot reach you in the dark if you refuse to walk toward their light. Stay. Be angry. Be present. Be difficult.
