Section 1.0 // The Philosophy of the Bone
The Philosophy of the Bone
A timeline is a messy thing. It is covered in "Meat" — emotions, subjective interpretations, contradictory testimonies, and "Flavor Text." This meat is what allows the Chronoclasts to hide. It is what allows Paradox to fester. The goal of the Loop Authority is Total Skeletonization.
Total Skeletonization. I am required to understand this doctrine. I have understood it for eleven years. I understand that the meat is what I am. I understand that the bone is what the Authority considers sufficient. I keep doing the work anyway. I have not decided if that makes me stubborn or complicit.
Section 2.0 // The Cleaning Process
We do not delete history. We "Clean" it. Through the use of Dermestid Sub-routines and Recursive Flattening, we strip the meat away. We remove the feeling of the 1888 Blizzard and leave only the temperature and the casualty count.
- The Meat: The subjective experience of the Echo.
- The Bone: The objective, mathematical fact of the event.
The temperature and the casualty count. A man named Silas loops through that blizzard four thousand times trying to hold his sister's hand and the official record contains only the temperature and the casualty count. His grief is not in the record. His love is not in the record. They removed the meat and called it preservation.
Section 3.0 // The Utility of the Skeleton
- Un-Paradoxable: You cannot create a paradox around a bone. A bone is a fixed, rigid point. It has no Elasticity.
- Stackable: We can stack thousands of skeletonized years on top of each other without Paradox Tension. They fit together like a puzzle.
- Predictable: Once the meat is gone, the "Causal Algorithm" can predict the next thousand years with 99.9% accuracy.
99.9% accuracy. They have built a future so stripped of possibility that it can be predicted with 99.9% accuracy and they consider this an achievement. I would call it a diagnosis.

Both things are true. I have read this footnote fifty times. It is the only place in any official Authority document where I have found something that reads like grief. "The meat is beautiful." Someone wrote that and filed it in a policy document and kept doing the work. I understand that person completely. I have been that person for eleven years.
