Opening // The Chains of Logic

The world tells you that to be "whole" is to be "aware." They tell you that a man who is paralyzed must acknowledge his chair, and a man who has lost his history must mourn his past.

They call it truth.

We call it the Chains of Logic.

Anosognosia is a real neurological condition. The brain, damaged in certain ways, becomes incapable of recognizing its own damage. It is not denial. It is not choice. The brain genuinely cannot see the wound. Cain is proposing we induce this state intentionally. I am noting this because it matters.

The Congregation's Witness // The Brother's Arm

In the Church, we celebrate the Grace of Anosognosia. Look at the brother in the front row. He lost his left arm in the 1914 Shattering. The Loop Authority says it is gone. The physicians say it is gone. The mirror says it is gone.

But our brother knows better. He still reaches for his cup. He still feels the warmth of the sun on fingers that "do not exist."

"I reach for things. I feel them. The Authority says my arm was taken in the Shattering. I say my arm was saved there, and I am simply still catching up to it."

This is not a delusion. This is a Causal Preservation. By refusing to acknowledge the loss, our brother keeps the idea of his arm alive in a Better Timeline — one where the Shattering never reached him.

I treated this man. The brother in the front row. His name is Eli. He came to me six months before this sermon, asking if the arm could be recovered. I told him I didn't know. The Church told him it was already there. I understand why he chose the Cathedral over my office. I do not think he was wrong.

The Mission // Global Anosognosia

We shall apply this to the whole world. We shall induce a global Anosognosia of the Heart. We will look at our shattered history, our dead children, and our broken homes, and we will say:

Nothing Is Wrong.

By our collective refusal to acknowledge the Scar, we will force the universe to grow a Phantom Future. We will live in the beautiful lie until the lie becomes the only reality left.

The beautiful lie until it becomes the only reality. I have heard this argument before in different language. The Authority calls it stability. The Revel calls it liberation. The Church calls it grace. They are all describing the same mechanism. The difference is which part they ask you to forget.

Eli. I went to the Cathedral the week after the Authority visit. His usual seat was empty. The people around him didn't seem to notice. They were reaching for their cups with both hands, fingers spread, feeling the warmth of things that weren't there. I sat in his seat. I don't know why. I think I was looking for a signal that the idea of him was still alive somewhere.
