Post-Mortem: Echo #112 — The Long Walk

Subject #112 was observed moving with a "mechanical, jerky gait" through 1865 Washington D.C. Despite three attempts by Authority agents to intercept, the Subject could not be deterred. Subject reached the balcony of Ford's Theatre exactly 4.2 seconds before the historic assassination attempt.

Biological Findings // The Mycelium
DOC-05

Upon recovery of the remains, it was discovered that the Subject's brain had been entirely replaced by a Fibrous CTH-Mycelium. This fungus, likely a derivative of the First Scar's background propagation, had hijacked the Subject's motor cortex.

  • Phase-Lock: The Subject had "clamped" onto the structural timber of the theatre, anchoring their biological mass to the exact "Peak" of the Era's historical momentum.
  • Spore Event: At the moment of the historical climax, a Chronos-Loom erupted from the Subject's prefrontal cortex, infecting 50 witnesses.

The Ophiocordyceps Drive // What It Means
DOC-05

The Ophiocordyceps Drive is the universe's way of "planting" new anomalies. It uses a dying Echo as the soil. The Echo is forced to climb to the "Highest Height" — the most important historical moment — to ensure maximum spore dispersal across the timeline.

Clinical Note — Recorded Immediately After RecoveryFifty new Echoes. Fifty people who went to a theatre and became something else. I have been trying to locate them. The Authority has been locating them faster. I have found four. The Authority has found the other forty-six. I am trying not to think about what that means.
04
Final Note // He Had a Name
DOC-05
DirectiveThe host is already consumed. Do not attempt rescue. The Long Walk ends only one way.
